Background Intra-articular steroid injections are a valuable option in the management of inflammatory joint flare-ups. [1] The Gartnavel General Hospital (GGH), Glasgow operates injection clinic for rheumatological patients via self-referral system. This allows to book clinics directly and enables prompt access an appointment. system was modified July 2022 include remote screening, allowing evaluation self-referrals prior booking appointments. Waiting times have decreased significantly from 3 months 1 week since use screening. Objectives To determine efficacy screening on identify self-referring patient groups where not indicated. Methods Retrospective analysis conducted 07/07/2022 07/12/2022. Patient demographics, diagnoses, reasons rejection outcomes were analysed. Results 108 self-referred during this period. There 41.7% (n=45) decrease bookings with 50.9% (n=55) refused screening; 81.8% these indicated injection. 35.2% (n=38) under rheumatology review. 25.9% (n= 28) had solely osteoarthritis; 71.4% (n=20) rejected directed outpatient physiotherapy services. Conclusion Remote effective reducing waiting list injections. used isolation has significant limitations led beyond its capacity. issue is also exacerbated by non-rheumatological patients.
